These are a few questions are are asked frequently during out consultations. We hope they clear some queries you may have!
How do I get care in place for my family member?
Contact Semper Care for a free consultation and we will arrange to assess your family member’s needs and wishes. We have self-funding clients and clients whose care is funded by local authorities. We will provide you with contact details for your designated local authority for you to arrange a social care assessment, thereafter, Semper Care will work with you to create a tailored care package to meet your family member’s needs.
I do not want to completely stop caring for my family member. Can I split the tasks with Semper Care staff?
Absolutely. We understand people may want to continue to be involved in caring for their families with professionals in place to do selected tasks. We will only carry out the cares that are discussed and agreed beforehand, allowing you to continue with the tasks you would like to do yourself.
How do I report a concern about Semper Care staff?

Who are the CQC?
The CQC (Care Quality Commission) are an independent regulator of the health and social care sector in England. They ensure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage care services to continually improve. They do this via guidelines and inspections.
How long does it take to get care in place?
If you are self-funding, we can start the care package within a week of the initial assessment carried out by Semper Care. If you are waiting for a social care assessment from the council, it may take around 12 weeks from the assessment date to have care in place.
Will I have regular care staff?
Yes. You will have the same carers assigned to your visits throughout the week unless they are on annual leave or unable to attend work due to sickness or other unforeseen reasons.
What do I do if my family member needs specialist mobility equipment?
Semper Care management will put a referral in to the occupational therapists once a client is unable to weight bare independently or with the use of equipment that may already be in place. The occupation therapist will assess the situation and arrange to have the relevant equipment provided.
What time will Semper Care staff visit?
Visit times will be arranged according to Semper Care’s availability and your preference. We will endeavour to accommodate your requests as much as reasonably possible. Semper Care staff will always arrive at the designated time.
What is power or attorney?
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is the authority to act for another person in personal welfare or property and financial affairs.
A personal welfare LPA gives your attorney the power to make decisions about your daily routine (washing, dressing, eating), medical care, moving into a care home and life-sustaining medical treatment. It can only be used if you’re unable to make your own decisions.
A property and financial affairs LPA gives your attorney the power to make decisions about your money and property, including managing your bank or building society accounts, paying bills, collecting your pension or benefits and, if necessary, selling your home.
