Accessibility
How we make sempercare.co.uk usable for everyone.
Families who find their way to this site are often tired, often stressed, and many are older or visually impaired themselves. That matters to us — accessibility isn’t an afterthought. This page explains what we’ve done to make the site usable for everyone, what still isn’t perfect, and how to reach us if something isn’t working for you.
1Our commitment
We’re working towards Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across every page. We test the site against this standard and fix issues as we find them. We’re not fully compliant today, and we’re honest below about where the gaps are.
2What works well
- All images have descriptive alternative text for screen readers.
- Forms have proper labels and required-field indicators.
- Heading structure is logical and supports screen reader navigation.
- We avoid relying on colour alone to convey information.
- Our contact form works with keyboard navigation.
3Known limitations (and when we’ll fix them)
We’re genuinely working to fix these, and we’ve committed target dates. If they slip, we’ll update this page to say so.
- Pinch-zoom is currently blocked on mobile devices. This is a WCAG 1.4.4 failure. Target fix: within 60 days of the publication date of this statement.
- No “skip to content” link for keyboard users. Target fix: within 60 days.
- Some pages have a duplicate heading in the HTML that’s hidden visually. It doesn’t affect how the page looks but can confuse screen readers. Target fix: within 60 days.
- Our contact form uses a visual CAPTCHA which can be a barrier. We’re moving to an invisible alternative. Target fix: within 60 days.
4Requesting information in a different format
If you can’t access the information on our website, we can provide it in another format. Tell us what works for you:
- Large print written materials
- Easy read versions (for people with a learning disability)
- Audio — we can read materials aloud to you on a phone call, or send a recording
- BSL — we can arrange a BSL-interpreted phone or video call with notice
- Translation — our team speaks Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Polish and Romanian, and we’re happy to help on a phone call or walk through information together
- Paper copies — posted to you, free of charge
Ring 01274 019093 or email info@sempercare.co.uk and ask.
